Thanksgiving 2017 Prayers
While we tend to anticipate
Thanksgiving since it more often than not implies a four-day occasion,
getting together with family, and eating more nourishment than we have
all year, it is my earnest yearning that it more important this year.
Consider the possibility that Thanksgiving were the one day in which we
over-accentuated what ought to be on our souls each day of the year: a
heart of appreciation in everything. Imagine a scenario in which our
Thanksgiving supplication to God truly expressed gratitude toward God
for everything that has happened in the previous year.
We Give Thanks:
We give thanks for the pleasure
Of gathering together for this occasion.
We give thanks for this food
Prepared by loving hands.
We give thanks for life,
The freedom to enjoy it all
And all other blessings.
As we partake of this food,
We pray for health and strength
To carry on and try to live as You would have us.
This we ask in the name of Christ,
Our Heavenly Father.
PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING 2017:
O God, we thank you for this earth, our home;
For the wide sky and the blessed sun,
For the salt sea and the running water,
For the everlasting hills
And the never-resting winds,
For trees and the common grass underfoot.
We thank you for our senses
By which we hear the songs of birds,
And see the splendor of the summer fields,
And taste of the autumn fruits,
And rejoice in the feel of the snow,
And smell the breath of the spring.
Grant us a heart wide open to all this beauty;
And save our souls from being so blind
That we pass unseeing
When even the common thorn-bush
Is aflame with your glory,
O God our creator,
Who lives and reigns for ever and ever.
For the wide sky and the blessed sun,
For the salt sea and the running water,
For the everlasting hills
And the never-resting winds,
For trees and the common grass underfoot.
We thank you for our senses
By which we hear the songs of birds,
And see the splendor of the summer fields,
And taste of the autumn fruits,
And rejoice in the feel of the snow,
And smell the breath of the spring.
Grant us a heart wide open to all this beauty;
And save our souls from being so blind
That we pass unseeing
When even the common thorn-bush
Is aflame with your glory,
O God our creator,
Who lives and reigns for ever and ever.
Thank You,God, for all that You have allowed and not allowedin our lives this past year.For we commit our lives anew to You this dayand ask that You would continue to remind us,throughout this next year, that You are God,You are on the throne,
and You are eternally good.
Though our mouths were full of song as the sea,
and our tongues of exultation as the multitude of its waves,and our lips of praise as the wide-extended firmament;
though our eyes shone with light like the sun and the moon,
and our hands were spread forth like the eagles of heaven,
and our feet were swift as hinds,
we should still be unable to thank thee and bless thy name,
O Lord our God and God of our fathers,
for one thousandth or one ten thousandth part of the bounties which thou has bestowed upon our fathers and upon us.
O
Gracious God, we give you thanks for your overflowing generosity to us.
Thank you for the blessings of the food we eat and especially for this
feast today. Thank you for our home and family and friends, especially
for the presence of those gathered here. Thank you for our health, our
work and our play. Please send help to those who are hungry, alone, sick
and suffering war and violence. Open our hearts to your love. We ask
your blessing through Christ your son. Amen.
Thanksgiving 2017 Blessings
Lord, as we bow our heads to pray,
We celebrate Thanksgiving Day.
Help us have the right attitude,
As we turn to you in gratitude.
Thank you for our festive mood;
Thank you, Lord, for this good food;
Thanks for blessings great and small;
Thank you, thank you for it all.

Lord, so often times, as any other day
When we sit down to our meal and pray
We hurry along and make fast the blessing
Thanks, amen. Now please pass the dressing
We're slaves to the olfactory overload
We must rush our prayer before the food gets cold
But Lord, I'd like to take a few minute more
To really give thanks to what I'm thankful for
For my family, my health, a nice soft bed
My friends, my freedom, a roof over my head
I'm thankful right now to be surrounded by those
Whose lives touch me more than they'll ever possibly know
Thankful Lord, that You've blessed me beyond measure
Thankful that in my heart lives life's greatest treasure
That You, dear Jesus, reside in that place
And I'm ever so grateful for Your unending grace
So please, heavenly Father, bless this food You've provided
And bless each and every person invited
Amen!

We thank you for this day:
for life
and one more day to love,
for opportunity
and one more day to work for justice and peace,
for neighbors
and one more person to love
and by whom be loved,
for your grace
and one more experience of your presence,
for your promise:
to be with us,
to be our God,
and to give salvation.

We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing;
He chastens and hastens his will to make known;
The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing,
Sing praises to his name: He forgets not his own.
Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,
Ordaining, maintaining his kingdom divine;
So from the beginning the fight we were winning;
Thou, Lord, wast at our side, All glory be thine!
We all do extol thee, thou leader triumphant,
And pray that thou still our defender wilt be.
Let thy congregation escape tribulation;
Thy name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!
Amen!

This
Thanksgiving let those of us who have much and those who have little
gather at the welcoming table of the Lord. At this blessed feast, may
rich and poor alike remember that we are called to serve on another and
to walk together in God's gracious world. With thankful hearts we praise
our God who like a loving parent denies us no good thing.
Thanksgiving 2017
For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food,
For love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food,
For love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.
